The Dirección General de Seguridad de Tránsito y Transporte Terrestre (Digesett) announced that its agents received specialized training from the Escuela de Tráfico of the Spanish Guardia Civil. The program, supported by the Inter-American Development Bank (BID), focused on improving vehicle regulation techniques and emergency response. The training covered manual signaling methods used to direct cars, motorcycles, and pedestrians, particularly at congested intersections. It also addressed situations where traffic lights fail or other emergencies arise that require intervention by traffic officers. An audiovisual presentation released by Digesett demonstrated how its personnel employ these signals to organize traffic flow, prevent intersection blockages, and facilitate the passage of emergency vehicles. This initiative is part of broader international cooperation efforts backed by the BID, aimed at incorporating best practices for traffic regulation and control. Under Ley 63-17 on Mobility, Land Transport, Traffic, and Road Safety, Digesett is authorized to regulate, control, and supervise traffic on public roads and to intervene in situations that affect mobility.
