Abinader y Jean Luis Rodríguez entregan 422 títulos de propiedad y 97 apartamentos en Santo Domingo

President Luis Abinader and the Minister of Housing and Buildings, Jean Luis Rodríguez, led a social‑development event in Santo Domingo that focused on ensuring legal security and access to dignified housing for local families. During the ceremony, the government handed out 422 property titles in the municipality. The distribution included 300 titles from the “Lotes y Servicios” project in Santo Domingo Norte, 100 titles for beneficiaries of Invivienda Santo Domingo, 10 titles in Cancino and 12 titles in Juan Pablo Duarte. The initiative is part of a broader effort to secure home ownership for residents. Abinader emphasized the government’s role in simplifying the title‑registration process. “Today we are giving you security. When you enter through this door today, the property you have is worth at least twice as much. Because you now have titles, you can go to formal banks, seek a loan, build a second floor, or make a small business on the first floor. You now know you can leave this as a protected asset for your family. You are true owners,” he said. Minister Rodríguez highlighted the personal stories behind each title. “There are families who have lived in their homes for more than 30 years, raised children, watched grandchildren grow, and built a life there, yet they did not have the document that would fully guarantee their property security,” he said. He added that the delivery of titles represents more than paperwork; it provides “tranquility, legal security and the opportunity to leave a protected legacy for their children.” The event marked the government’s 1,800th title issuance through the MIVED as of October 2026. In a complementary ceremony, the president and Minister Rodríguez also inaugurated the first phase of the Residencial Las Acacias I in the El Tamarindo sector. The project, developed through the Fonvivienda trust, consists of 97 residential units built under the “Mi Vivienda” program and will provide dignified homes for approximately 400 people. The total investment is about RD$321 million, comprising RD$204 million in estimated private investment and RD$117 million in subsidized or public investment. Each apartment includes three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a living room, dining area, kitchen, balcony, laundry area, one parking space, and, in some first‑floor units, a terrace and patio. The surrounding area offers public transportation, supermarkets, pharmacies, parks, and hospitals. Minister Rodríguez noted that the first 97 apartments represent the initial phase of a 1,264‑unit project that combines government and private sector efforts. Miguel Ramos, executive vice president of Business Operations at Banco de Reservas, explained that the apartments are financed by the bank with more than RD$200 million at a fixed annual interest rate of 8 % for seven years, which he described as the most favorable rate in the national market. Through these actions, the MIVED continues to promote social welfare, inclusion, and the strengthening of family assets.
