President Luis Abinader of the Dominican Republic announced that he had spoken with Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele to coordinate logistical and intelligence support for Salvadoran troops deployed in Haiti. The coordination comes as the Salvadoran forces work to locate four aircraft technicians who have been kidnapped by criminal gangs in Haiti. Abinader said the conversation took place on Saturday and reiterated that the Dominican government’s priority is to ensure the security of its territory and protect its borders amid the escalating violence in Haiti. He stated that Dominican authorities have significantly increased border surveillance and warned that they would respond to any attempts by criminal groups to approach national territory. The collaboration between the two governments reflects growing concerns over insecurity in Haiti and the international community’s efforts to confront armed gangs and secure the release of the kidnapped technicians.
