Patriotic Front urges PM to lead with respect and accountability

The Patriotic Front Men’s Arm has publicly voiced concern over remarks made by Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar, urging her to set a better example for the nation’s youth.

In a statement issued by spokesman Kenrick Seret, the group pointed to the Prime Minister’s use of phrases such as “empty the clip,” “load up the matic,” and “boss your head,” describing them as troubling in a country already facing rising violence.

The Men’s Arm stressed that while they support the Prime Minister’s stance against corruption, such language could send the wrong message to young men who need guidance, not encouragement toward aggression.

They also questioned aspects of the government’s recent appointments, noting that members previously associated with controversy had been reinstated in the new administration. The group argued that citizens had voted for “change, not exchange.”

Highlighting the July 2025 High Court ruling against the former SportTT board — which approved $34 million in failed Live Sport contracts — the Patriotic Front insisted that accountability must apply to all administrations, from 2010 to 2025, and not selectively.

“The country deserves a government that is honest, accountable and committed to protecting its people, not just in words, but in deeds,” Seret said.

The group reaffirmed its commitment to promoting respect, peace, and accountability, calling on leaders to set the right example for the nation’s youth.
