In a tragic turn of events, 19-year-old Pt. Kavish Veda Persad lost his life in an accident in San Juan, just a day after celebrating his CAPE results. The accident occurred around 10:00 pm as Persad attempted to overtake another vehicle but crashed into it, causing his car to strike the Beetham water main. The impact sent his vehicle into the air, landing in the nearby Laventille River. This incident followed Pt. Persad’s recent academic achievements, which his father had proudly shared on social media. In the past, Kavish had also received top grades in all 8 CSEC Subjects and was recognized by the Ministry of Education as one of the Top 200 students in the SEA Examination. Pt. Persad was the grandson of the late Shankaracharya, Pt. Hari Prasad & Mrs. Chandrawti Prasad, the founders of SWAHA.
