A tragic incident unfolded in Santa Cruz early on the morning of August 15th, 2025. Suevie Ghany, a 29-year-old woman, and her nephew Aaron were fatally shot by a licensed firearm holder during an alleged robbery attempt. The incident occurred when Ghany, who was fetching spring water, was approached by two men demanding the keys to her van. After handing over the keys, the licensed firearm holder retaliated, shooting both suspects. Ghany died at the scene while Aaron succumbed to his injuries at Mt. Hope Hospital. A firearm was later found at the scene by the police.
