Fatal Firefight: Licensed Gun Owner Thwarts Robbery, Kills Two

In a tragic incident on August 15th, 2025, in Santa Cruz, a robbery attempt turned fatal when a licensed gun owner opened fire. The victims, Suevie Ghany, 29, and her nephew, Aaron, were killed during the incident. The robbery took place in the early hours, around 5 a.m., when Ghany and Aaron had stopped by the roadside to fetch spring water. A Nissan Cube pulled up next to them, and two men, one armed, attempted to rob them. As the gun holder demanded the van keys, the licensed firearm holder retaliated by opening fire. Ghany was shot in the head and died on the spot, while Aaron succumbed to his injuries at Mt. Hope Hospital. Police recovered a firearm at the scene.
