Ombudsman’s Office to Address Public Complaints

The Ombudsman’s Office in Trinidad and Tobago will be at the Point Fortin Borough Corporation on August 13th, between 9 a.m. and 12 noon, to address public complaints. The citizens are advised to bring relevant supporting documents for their complaints. Some of the complaints the office investigates include delays by the National Insurance Board (NIB) in processing claims for NIS benefits, compensation for compulsory land acquisition, responses to complaint letters and requests for assistance, obtaining birth certificates, passports, and medical records. They also look into refusals to disclose documents under the Freedom of Information Act and delays by local government corporations in addressing complaints under the Municipal Corporations Act.
