A tragic incident occurred on Friday evening in Penal, resulting in the death of a 47-year-old man and injuries to a woman. At approximately 7:10 p.m. on August 8th, 2025, Habib John and Ann Marie Codrington Mitchell were walking along the eastern side of Rochard Road when they were struck by a white Kia K2700 truck driven by 33-year-old Mervyn Joseph. John was pronounced dead at the scene, while Codrington Mitchell was transported to the San Fernando General Hospital for treatment. The police have initiated an investigation, and the truck involved has been impounded for further examination. Crime Scene Investigators have also processed the area to gather evidence. W/Sgt Monsegue of the Penal Police is overseeing the ongoing investigations.
