In a shocking incident off Demerara Road, Arima, two young men were executed and a third was injured in what authorities believe is linked to a robbery involving a vehicle owned by a known drug dealer. The victims have been identified as 21-year-old Kershawn Edwards and 17-year-old Kirmanie Dyer, both from Zone 8, Mount Zion, Arima. They were shot in a bushy area during a meet-up related to a ransom demand for the stolen car.
The shooting occurred late on July 30, 2025, when police were alerted to a man with gunshot wounds at the Arima General Hospital. The injured man, aged 25, accompanied the deceased on a hunting trip when they came under fire. Due to his critical condition, he could not provide details to the police initially.
Following the report, officers conducted a search but found no immediate leads until early the next morning when they discovered the bodies of Edwards and Dyer in a remote area along a dirt road. Both men had suffered multiple gunshot wounds, and a white Nissan AD Wagon was found nearby, which had been reported stolen during a violent robbery two days prior.
The vehicle’s owner, a drug dealer, had been contacted by an anonymous caller demanding a ransom for its return. It is believed that the deceased men were lured into an ambush as part of this extortion scheme. The investigation revealed that the suspects might have abandoned the vehicle at the scene due to an inability to find the keys.
The police recovered numerous shell casings and other evidence at the site, and the investigation is ongoing, involving multiple units and personnel from the Arima CID and Homicide Bureau.
As the community grapples with this tragic event, law enforcement officials continue to pursue leads to apprehend those responsible for the violence and restore safety to the area.
