On July 29, 2025, a police operation in Curepe resulted in the seizure of over $300,000 worth of cannabis. Acting on intelligence, officers conducted a hybrid patrol between 8 AM and 2 PM and identified a narcotics storage location in an apartment in Valsayn. During the search, the canine unit’s K9 named “Choco” indicated a strong interest in the washroom area of the downstairs apartment. This led to the discovery of four bags containing 100 rectangular packages of cannabis, which were then seized and taken to the Charford Court Base for confirmation. The total weight of the seized cannabis was 55.62 kilograms, with an estimated street value of $305,910TT. The operation was led by ACP Collis Hazel, with support from Senior Superintendent Spence, Superintendent Ramsook, and ASP Singh, and was coordinated by Inspector Burris and Acting Inspector Edwards under Sergeant Adams’ supervision.
