On July 29, 2025, a robbery at Xing Hui Chinese Restaurant in Curepe escalated dramatically when a 70-year-old licensed firearm holder opened fire on two suspects. The incident occurred around 8:15 p.m. as the victim awaited his order. The male suspect, described as dark-skinned and dressed in a black vest and blue jeans, and a female accomplice in a white vest and grey shorts approached the victim. As the man attempted to rob the victim, he demanded his wallet and swiftly moved toward the exit. In a moment of self-defense, the victim drew his Glock 19C pistol, ordering the suspect to stop. A struggle ensued when the suspect lunged for the weapon, resulting in a shot that struck him in the arm. The male suspect, identified as 22-year-old Ijah Boothman from Morvant, was taken to the Mt Hope Hospital for treatment and is reported to be in stable condition. The female suspect, 20-year-old Nyesha Carrington from Valsayn, was arrested at the scene. Law enforcement, including the St Joseph Police and Crime Scene Investigators, responded promptly, securing the area and collecting evidence. The investigation, led by Ag.
