In a harrowing incident on Monday, July 28th, 2025, three residents from East Dry River found themselves in a dangerous situation when their vehicle broke down on the Beetham Highway. The car stalled around 1:20 a.m. near the WASA station, close to the Beetham Landfill. As they worked to fix the issue, the group was ambushed by six armed men who announced a hold-up. The robbers stole various personal items, including a silver Samsung Neo cellphone valued at $2,000, a gold hand band also worth $2,000, and $2,000 in cash from one victim. Another victim lost a gold chain with a butterfly pendant estimated at $2,000, while a third was robbed of $500 in cash. Thankfully, no injuries were reported during this frightening encounter, and police are currently investigating the incident as the suspects fled north into Beetham Gardens.
