A businesswoman was robbed of $46,000 in cash in a shocking incident outside Scotia Bank in Chaguanas on July 25, 2025. The attack occurred at around 9:45 a.m. when the woman exited her vehicle in the bank’s parking lot. A man approached her, grabbed her purse, and during a violent struggle, she was shocked with a taser-like device, causing her to collapse. Despite the efforts of a passerby who witnessed the assault, the suspect managed to escape with the purse containing the day’s sales. Fortunately, the purse was later found nearby after falling during the struggle. The robber fled in a white Nissan Note, which investigators later confirmed was a rented vehicle. Surveillance footage revealed that two suspects had been trailing the victim prior to the robbery, having followed her into Republic Bank before the attack at Scotia Bank. Following a coordinated police effort, four men were apprehended in Couva while trying to return the rented getaway vehicle. The suspects have been identified as Isiah Chow, Tyrese David, Joel Charles, and Arlon Reid, with Reid being linked to ongoing taxi robberies in the area. Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
