In a shocking incident in Moruga, a 30-year-old man was shot in the leg while taking a break to drink a coconut on July 22. The victim, who was en route to his garden along Edward Trace, stopped near a coconut tree when he heard a gunshot and felt a burning sensation in his right leg. Despite the injury, he managed to return to the track where his bison cart awaited him. In a brave effort to get help, he encountered another villager and borrowed a phone to call his father. His father quickly arrived and transported him to the San Fernando General Hospital, where he is currently in stable condition. Authorities are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
