Siparia police have initiated an investigation following the unsettling discovery of a decomposing body found in a dam located off Victor Street in Syne Village, Penal. The incident came to light around 12:25 p.m. when a 21-year-old man, who had ventured to pick mangoes along a bushy track near the Mora Dam, stumbled upon the lifeless body submerged in the water. Upon notifying the authorities, police officers arrived at the scene and located the body, which was discovered approximately 30 feet down a precipice on the right side of the trail. The individual was found wearing only a green shirt and black long pants. A District Medical Officer (DMO) was called to the scene, assessed the body, and subsequently ordered its removal to the Forensic Science Centre in Port of Spain for further examination.
