Antigua Government Apologizes for Delays Faced by Former Trinidad PM Rowley

The Government of Antigua and Barbuda has issued an apology regarding the delays faced by former Trinidad and Tobago Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley while transiting through the country’s airport. A senior government official described the incidents as unfortunate. Interpol clarified that it does not disclose specific information and recommended that inquiries be directed to Trinidad and Tobago’s national police. Minister Steadroy Benjamin expressed support for Dr. Rowley’s account, stating, “It is unfortunate and deeply regrettable.” He emphasized that Dr. Rowley had not misrepresented the facts regarding the situation. However, he noted uncertainty about why Dr. Rowley’s name was flagged in any international system, as this information remains unverifiable by the Antigua and Barbuda government. At this point, they have opted not to release a formal statement regarding the matter.
