In a shocking turn of events, a convicted robber named Abraham Briggs, aged 28, escaped from the Youth Training Rehabilitation Centre in Arouca on Tuesday evening. The incident occurred around 5:00 PM when Briggs, who was serving a six-year sentence for robbery with aggravation, managed to flee while working at the facility. His escape has prompted an urgent manhunt involving both police and prison officials.
Briggs is described as having a brown complexion and a muscular build, with distinctive tattoos including “KAB” on his right arm and a peace symbol on his left hand. Notably, he has a long scar on his left foot, and his last known address is in Sangre Grande.
Authorities have mobilized the Prison Service Emergency Response Unit and local police to conduct searches in the surrounding areas. They are urging the public to remain vigilant, as Briggs is considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information about his whereabouts is advised to contact the police at 999 or the Prison Service at 623-7070. The manhunt continues as officials work diligently to recapture Briggs, who was scheduled for release in March 2029.
