A woman recently fell victim to a fraudulent car deal after paying a $7,000 deposit for a Nissan AD Wagon advertised on Facebook Marketplace. On July 4th, 2025, she engaged with a seller named Dana Dharampaul, who instructed her to transfer the deposit to a Republic Bank account registered to Rakeem Baptiste. After completing the payment, she planned to view the vehicle. However, upon arriving at the given address in Tacarigua, she discovered that no one by that name lived there. Attempts to contact the seller were futile, as her calls went unanswered. Authorities are currently investigating the incident, highlighting the risks associated with online transactions. Buyers are urged to exercise caution when engaging in online marketplaces, especially when significant deposits are involved.
