In a dramatic turn of events, a Special Reserve Police (SRP) officer successfully captured a suspect who had stolen $30,000 from his car shortly after he withdrew the cash from a bank in Marabella. The incident occurred around 9:45 am when the officer left First Citizens Bank with the money secured in a white envelope, placing it on the front passenger seat of his vehicle.
After making a stop at a nearby Unipet Gas Station to refuel, the officer noticed a man attempting to open the passenger door of his vehicle and remove the envelope containing the cash. Reacting swiftly, the officer initiated a chase after the suspect, who fled the scene with the stolen money.
With the timely support of officers from the Marabella Police Station, Municipal Police, and the Southern Division Task Force, the SRP officer managed to intercept and detain the suspect shortly thereafter. However, during the commotion, a portion of the cash was lost, with police recovering $25,000 of the original amount. Authorities have confirmed that investigations into the incident are ongoing, highlighting the quick response and collaboration among local law enforcement.
