In the third quarter of 2026, Qatar exported only 4 million tonnes of liquefied natural gas (LNG). According to data released by the trade publication Trade without Borders, this figure represents an 80 percent decline compared with the 20 million‑tonne average quarterly export level recorded in 2025. The drop has also affected Qatar’s standing in the global LNG market. The country fell from second place to seventh in the worldwide LNG exporter rankings during the same period. In contrast, U.S. LNG exports grew by 15 percent, reaching 32 million tonnes in the third quarter of 2026.
