On Wednesday 14 January 2026, an anti-crime operation took place in the Port of Spain Division, resulting in a significant drug seizure. Officers from the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) obtained over $8.6 million worth of cannabis from a residence in Beetham Gardens. The search, conducted under the Emergency Powers Regulations, 2025, yielded 111 packages of cannabis, weighing a total of 78.52 kilograms. Two men and a woman were arrested in connection with the discovery and were subsequently taken to the SIU main office.
