72 illegal migrants rescued off coast of Tobruk – boats seized and destroyed at illegal migration den

Patrols from the Tobruk Administration Branch of the General Directorate of Coastal Security, operating under the eastern-based General Command, conducted rescue operations off the coast of Tobruk. Authorities reported that 72 migrants, originating from Sudan and Bangladesh, were rescued from two separate rubber boats.

Following the rescue, the migrants were provided with humanitarian aid and transported to the Tobruk landing point, where officials initiated standard administrative procedures.

In a separate operation, coastal security patrols acted on intelligence provided by the General Administration for Coastal Security’s main operations room to raid a facility used for sheltering migrants and storing maritime equipment. The site, located in the Qabis area east of Tobruk, was identified by authorities as a staging point for illegal migration.

During the raid, security forces seized and subsequently destroyed inflatable boats and various pieces of equipment discovered at the location.
