Next year, Hungary will launch a 51 billion forint program to reconstruct drinking‑water networks and reduce water losses. The initiative was announced by Minister László Gajdos, who is responsible for the environment. In a statement, Gajdos said, “Drinking water is our national treasure; we will renovate the aging network, cut waste, and preserve safe water supply for future generations.” He added that it is essential to ensure everyone receives an adequate quantity and quality of clean water and that broken, leaking pipes should not contaminate the ground. The minister also noted that a large pipeline renewal program will begin next year, with the goal of replacing and upgrading a significant portion of the network over the next four years. The information was reported by the Hungarian News Agency (MTI).
