4.4 Magnitude Earthquake Detected Near Caribbean Islands

On the evening of August 24, 2025, an earthquake of magnitude 4.4 was recorded by the Automatic Earthquake Location system of the University of the West Indies’ Seismic Research Centre. The epicenter of the quake was located at latitude 14.32N, longitude 61.13W, and a depth of 15 kilometers. The nearest cities to the epicenter were Fort-de-France in Martinique, which is 31 kilometers to the south, Castries in Saint Lucia, 36 kilometers to the northwest, and Roseau in Dominica, 112 kilometers to the south-southeast.
