4.1 Magnitude Earthquake Recorded Near Grenada, Felt in Trinidad

A 4.1 magnitude earthquake was recorded near Grenada on Wednesday morning, April 1, 2026. The tremor, detected by the University of the West Indies Seismic Research Centre, occurred at approximately 9:06 a.m. local time. The earthquake had a depth of 10 kilometres and was situated at latitude 11.36°N and longitude 61.80°W, positioning the epicentre in the vicinity of St. George’s. Distances recorded from the event include 76 km south of St. George’s, Grenada, 84 km northwest of Port of Spain, and 98 km northwest of Arima. The Seismic Research Centre noted that the report is preliminary and may be revised following further analysis. As of now, there have been no immediate reports of damage or injuries due to the earthquake.
