$29M ‘Creepy’ Marijuana Haul Seized in Major Sea Operation

Early Friday morning, a collaborative operation by the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard (TTCG), and international entities resulted in the confiscation of over $29 million worth of high-grade Colombian marijuana off the Point Fortin coastline. The operation is considered one of the largest narcotics interceptions this year. The information leading to the interception came from a specialized TTPS unit, which had received intelligence about trafficking of Colombian marijuana from Venezuela to Trinidad. The vessel carrying the drugs was intercepted around 3 a.m., and while some suspects managed to escape by jumping overboard, two were captured. The seized drugs weighed approximately 268 kilograms. The operation highlights the significance of intelligence-led policing and international collaboration, as stated by Commissioner of Police Allister Guevarro.
