2026 Carnival in Jeopardy Amid NCC’s Silence

Carnival stakeholders have voiced concerns over the lack of communication from the National Carnival Commission regarding plans for the 2026 Carnival. With the event set to take place in early February, this silence and inaction could lead to chaos. Band leaders and Calypsonians participating in the competitions are seeking answers. Further delays could jeopardize the successful staging of the 2026 activities. Proper planning and infrastructural engagements are necessary for the event to be successful. The first engagement should come from the NCC, confirming if they are funding the proposed budget for the 2026 events. Yet, there has been no word from the NCC, raising questions about the fate of regional carnivals. The Carapichaima Carnival Committee, the oldest regional committee, continues to protect, preserve, promote, and produce an authentic Carnival.
