**Two floors of Rumsey Street car park to close for six weeks for Interpol assembly**

Two floors of the Rumsey Street car park in Sheung Wan will be closed to the public for approximately six weeks starting in November 2026 to support the hosting of the Interpol general assembly.

According to a document prepared for the Central and Western District Council, the Hong Kong Police Force plans to occupy the seventh and eighth floors of the facility to establish a traffic coordination command centre. The site will be used to accommodate 240 electric vehicles intended for the transport of assembly participants between the airport, hotels, and event venues.

The police stated that the car park was selected due to its location on Hong Kong Island and its proximity to both hotels and the conference site, which they noted is “conducive to the coordination and dispatch of vehicles.”

The closure is scheduled to begin on November 1, 2026, and the floors are expected to reopen to the public on December 12, 2026.

The 94th Interpol general assembly is set to take place from November 30 to December 3, 2026, at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre in Wan Chai. This marks the first time Hong Kong will host the meeting of the organization’s top governing body.
